Teen Wolf: Jackson & Scott (part 2; part 1)
They hit Rialto Beach on the second day and Scott, who has been fruitlessly searching for a good radio station since Jackson’s iPod died, hits Jackson in the arm as the sign for the exit comes up.
“Pull off here,” he says.
“Are you an idiot or not, McCall?” Jackson snaps, “What part of ‘on the run’ don’t you understand?”
Scott rolls his eyes. “We have five days to meet Derek and Stiles in Kluane,” he says. “Besides, we’ve been sitting in the car since yesterday morning. Everything is starting to smell like cornchips and I need to stretch my legs.”
Jackson mutters something derogatory under his breath but steers his Porsche off the exit towards Rialto Beach. Scott turns off the radio and rolls down his window, sticking his head out and breathing deep and slow. The forest is older and richer than the woods around Beacon Hills, and it makes the wolf deep in Scott’s chest rumble in contentment.
They hit the beach half an hour later. It’s just past noon on a Wednesday afternoon; there are a couple cars parked in the small parking lot but no one is on the beach itself. It’s warm but not hot; Scott pulls off his CYCLONES LACROSSE hoodie and toes out of his socks and shoes. He shoves everything into the nook of a fallen tree, rolls up his jeans, and darts towards the ocean.
Despite living in California for most of his life, Scott has never been further north than Sacramento, where he went once for a school field trip. His mom didn’t have time for vacations after his dad left when he was eight; when they moved to Beacon Hills, Scott had other things to worry about than travel. Like many people, he assumed that he’d do those kinds of things when he was older and his time was his own. So when Jackson shouts, “What are you, five?” Scott ignores him in favor of dipping his toes into the ocean for the very first time.
It’s much colder than he expected and the smell of salt and old, rich water rolling into his nose is more potent than he could have imagined. A laugh rips out of him in delight as a wave pushes against his calves and he splashes in further, not caring when the hem of his jeans become soaked.
“Dork!” Jackson yells from the fallen tree.
An idea burns into Scott’s brain like lightning through the sky. He doesn’t hesitate; he let’s the wolf push adrenaline into his limbs, spins around, and dashes back to Jackson. He has the other boy up and over his shoulder in an instant. Jackson snarls, his still human hands digging into Scott’s back, and when he yells, “Put me down McCall!”
It’s a poor choice of words. Scott is already waist deep in the water and he tosses Jackson into an oncoming wave. There’s a huge splash and Jackson resurfaces a moment later. He’s soaking wet, his sharpened teeth are bared, and his eyes flash acid green.
“You’re dead,” Jackson hisses, and tackles Scott into the water.
Grappling in the water is both more fun and more difficult than on land, like they do when the moon is full and neither can control the wolf howling in their veins. Water gets up Scott’s nose and he sputters every time he comes up for air. Wet and smooth, it’s hard to get a good grip on Jackson. It’s even harder because Scott is trying not to laugh, elated by the play for dominance and the feel of Jackson’s body squirming against his own. Eventually, Jackson is smiling too instead of snarling, and their fangs and claws pull back even as their eyes shine.
“Five,” Jackson laughs as he pushes Scott into the water for one last time. “You are five.”
Scott just smiles.

Teen Wolf: Jackson & Scott
seriously. SERIOUSLY. 3rd row. What a criminally underrated pairing, esp with Jackson’s perpetually longing looks and invading the Scott’s personal space willy nilly.
